Sign of Status is a project that shows the pineapples sinister past, engaging with the user in a the form of a game. In the game players can throw a ball at a concrete pineapple to smash its past and begin its future. It is paired alongside this book that educates the player about the pineapples past with illustrative photos of these concreate pineapples located all around London and Europe. Overall, this project highlighted the negative backstory of the pineapple and how its story started as a symbol and sign of status. “The pineapple fruit was a symbol of colonialism in the early 1700s, one of the trophies brought back from conquered territories.
